Saul Bell Design Awards
A Showcase of Jewelry Innovation
Case Study
Editorial Design
Objective
Create an editorial book that highlights submissions and celebrates the artistry of the Saul Bell Design Award.
Challenge
The publication needed to showcase highly detailed jewelry pieces through photography while keeping the layouts clean, consistent, and visually engaging. It also had to present designer stories without distracting from the work itself.
Process
I built a design system that emphasized simplicity and elegance. Macro photography highlighted the intricate craftsmanship of each piece, paired with thoughtful typography and supporting copy to provide context. Careful pacing and use of negative space ensured every spread felt balanced and allowed the work to remain the focal point.
Solution
The final book was a polished, high-end editorial piece that positioned each submission with clarity and sophistication. Full-bleed imagery and refined layouts elevated the jewelry while maintaining consistency across categories.
Impact
The publication elevated the prestige of the Saul Bell Design Award, becoming a valued keepsake for participants and a strong marketing tool for the program. It reinforced the award’s reputation as one of the most respected showcases of jewelry design worldwide.
